Purpose as a Foundation for Resilience

Building organizations where purpose empowers people to adapt, execute, and grow through disruption

An alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIM Lucknow, Mr. Akash Joshi currently serves as a Head of Business & Strategy at Praan Health. He credits IIT Bombay for teaching him how to tackle complex challenges and IIM Lucknow for shaping his understanding that strategy is rarely about finding the perfect answer, but about making the most effective choice among many possibilities.

He also shares that strategy is rarely about having all the answers. Instead, it is about making confident decisions with imperfect information and turning those decisions into successful outcomes through committed execution.

“Innovation without execution is simply an interesting idea. Operational excellence without innovation is becoming exceptionally efficient at doing yesterday’s job. The right balance between the two isn’t universal. A pre-revenue startup and a century-old enterprise naturally operate with different appetites for risk, investment horizons, and innovation cycles. Most leadership teams understand these variables reasonably well. The factor that is most consistently overlooked is political capital. Leaders who haven’t earned organizational trust often discover that even strong ideas struggle to gain traction. When credibility hasn’t been established, introducing bold change can become a disservice to both the leader and the organization. Trust isn’t just a leadership virtue; it’s an operational advantage.”
