Castrol India has appointed Saugata B. as Interim CEO

Castrol India has announced the appointment of Saugata B. as Interim Chief Executive Officer. This appointment reflects Castrol India’s confidence in experienced internal leadership and aligns with the company’s long-term commitment to operational continuity and sustainable growth.

Mr. Basuray brings over 25 years of professional experience within the Castrol and bp ecosystem, having built a strong career with Castrol India since joining the company in 1999 as a Management Trainee after completing his MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (SIBM).

He has also served as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Castrol India and as Regional Vice President at bp, gaining exposure to senior leadership functions and global business operations. He has also worked at Castrol’s global headquarters in the UK, contributing to global marketing initiatives, and has held international leadership roles, including Country Sales Director for Castrol Philippines Inc. and Managing Director of PT Castrol Indonesia. Back in India, Mr. Basuray led key business units such as Head of Marketing and Vice President – B2C at Castrol India, helping shape sales strategy and strengthen market execution.

Mr. Basuray’s deep understanding of both domestic and international markets has been central to his ability to lead teams, drive commercial growth, and implement effective business strategies. Mr. Basuray will take on the interim CEO role in addition to his current position as Wholetime Director & Head – B2C Sales. The appointment has been made following the decision of Kedar Lele, Managing Director of Castrol India, to exit the organisation.
