
Elcin Akcura has been appointed as the Senior Regional Economist for East India and the Pacific at IFC – International Financial Corporation. Akura brings over 20 years of experience in research and economics.
She has worked with Shell, EBRD, The World Bank, and more. Akcura has successfully led the leadership positions she held, including Senior Energy Economist, Senior Energy & Infrastructure Economist, and Principal Power & Natural Resources Economist.
Akcura’s academic background created her strong foundation in economics. She has earned her Ph.D degree from the University of Cambridge in Economics, Econometrics, and Energy. She gained her M.Phil degree from the University of Oxford in Economics in 2005.
Known for her data-driven insights, she has been consistently contributing to global datasets, navigating sustainable, equitable energy access. In her new role, she will be focusing on risk analysis and regulatory frameworks. Her appointment highlights the commitment of IFC to scale in the Asian and Pacific markets.
