Emrah Özer has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Mercedes-Benz Indian operations.
Mercedes-Benz is a German luxury automobile brand that is also one of the world’s largest premium automobile brands, with manufacturing units all over the world. Emrah takes over from Evren Cakabey, who has transitioned to the role of Executive Director & CFO at Mercedes-Benz G GmbH in Austria.
Prior to this appointment, Özer served as a member of the Board of Management and Head of Finance & Controlling at Mercedes-Benz Otomotiv Turkey, where he effectively managed relationships with banks, government entities, and investors. His career highlights also include significant roles in the Finance & Controlling divisions of Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Benz AG, and Smart, with oversight responsibilities for the India and NAFTA regions.
Starting his career in 2002 in the finance and controlling department of Smart GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany, Özer advanced to become head of project control in 2008 for the India and NAFTA regions. The Indian automobile market is expanding exponentially, with Mercedes sales reported at 13 percent growth in sales and a 21 percent increase in sales in the third quarter for the year 2024, with the company’s best performance to date. The company has a strong hold in the market share under the luxury segment, more than 50 percent. India is one of the largest markets for the automobile brand.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed confidence in Özer’s capabilities, emphasizing his extensive experience in international finance, business modeling, and investor relations. Additionally, Iyer acknowledged Evren Cakabey’s contributions, praising his instrumental role in advancing the company’s growth strategies, evolving its electric vehicle roadmap, and improving localization strategies with a focus on cost efficiency.
In his new role, Emrah Özer will also join the Board of Mercedes-Benz India as an Executive Director in the near future, further strengthening the company’s leadership team.
