
Hillang Yajik Makes History with Gold at South Asian Bodybuilding Championships
Hilang Yajik, a 24-year-old athlete from the Kurung Kumey district in Arunachal Pradesh, won a gold medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships. The championship was held in Thimphu, Bhutan.
Yajik was competing in the Women’s Model Physique (up to 155 cm) category. She also won silver in another category, demonstrating her versatility and dedication.

With 1 Gold and 1 Silver medal, she becomes the first-ever woman from our state to clinch an international Gold in physique sports — a trailblazer in every sense!” – praised by Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu.
Yajik’s victory in Bhutan is an incredible personal milestone as well as an inspiration for women athletes in the northeastern part of India, especially in sports where representation has been very limited. Her victory is an excellent example and an encouragement to increase participation in physique sports.
