IndusInd Bank has onboarded Balaji Narayanamurthy as its new Chief Data Officer, marking a significant step in the bank’s push toward data-led innovation and digital excellence. With close to 30 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data strategy, and digital transformation, Balaji brings a strong combination of domain expertise and visionary leadership to the organisation.
Before joining IndusInd Bank, he spent over 15 years at Axis Bank in key leadership positions, most notably as President and Head of the Business Intelligence Unit. During his tenure, he spearheaded multiple enterprise-wide initiatives, including data modernisation, advanced analytics adoption, digital intelligence programs, and the development of scalable BI frameworks. His work played a pivotal role in enhancing customer insights, strengthening risk models, and enabling more precise, data-backed decision-making across the bank.
Balaji’s earlier experience spans high-impact roles at Barclaycard, Capital One, and Citi. Across these organizations, he led cross-functional teams driving marketing analytics, risk strategy, customer intelligence, and data governance.
In his new role at IndusInd Bank, Balaji is expected to accelerate the bank’s enterprise data strategy, expand intelligent automation, deepen digital capabilities, and embed analytics into every layer of decision-making, reinforcing IndusInd’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric growth.
