Microsoft announced its second round of layoffs this year, affecting approximately 9,000 employees. This is 4% of their global workforce. This massive layoff comes after the company eliminated 6000 positions in May and 300 more in June. The total job cuts in 2025 are over 15,000.
The reductions span across multiple segments, like Xbox, gaming, engineering, and management. Xbox head Phil Spencer noted the cuts will streamline operations by removing management layers.
Despite the job cuts, Microsoft has reported a revenue of nearly $70 billion and $26 billion in net income in its last quarter. The company is providing internal recruitment of employees who are facing the crisis.
