Eighteen years ago, a young 19-year-old named Virat Kohli began his journey with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Back then, the IPL was still finding its footing, and so was he. But from that very first season, Kohli gave his heart to the franchise and never once looked back.

For nearly two decades, he has carried the hopes of millions, facing endless criticism and trolling for not lifting the IPL trophy. Yet, through every high and low, his loyalty remained grounded. His bond with RCB is not just about cricket; it’s about belief, passion, and an unbreakable commitment to the team he calls home.

Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB won their first trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on 3rd June 2025. In his first season as captain, Patidar led the team through the scoreboard to the final.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh lauded Patidar’s captaincy, saying, “Fantastic, what could have been better than this? In your first season, you won the trophy for a team that had waited for it for so many years. It’s important how the captain manages the team, and the way he managed the team, he was in total command.”

The 18th IPL season changed everything as RCB lifted their first trophy by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs. Every fan cherishes these unforgettable moments. Every IPL fan voted for King Kohli’s victory and the reality that was once a dream.

From “Ee sala cup namde” to “Ee sala cup namdu”, the journey was filled with hard work, emotion, and of course, the RCB fans’ belief that never left their side. “This was loyalty paying rent after 18 years” Virat expressed his sentiments that deeply resonated with the fans.

RCB took up batting and set a target of 190 runs. At the beginning, things were not looking promising for RCB. But the exceptional bowling by Krunal Pandya and other bowlers changed the pace of the game. Tight fielding and spellbound spells left the PBKS batsmen in trouble. Krunal Pandya earned the Player of the Match award for his exceptional performance during the game.
