Prashant Thakker will lead Citigroup as the new Head of Corporate Banking for the South and Southeast Asia region. Thakker will be responsible for overseeing the business strategy, financial performance, talent development, and operational execution across Citi’s corporate banking sectors. He will be responsible for managing this sector in countries including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and more.
Thakker has worked with Standard Chartered Bank and ICICI Bank. Thakker has over 20 years of experience in the banking sector and has been associated with Citi for 17+ years. He has led Citi India as Vice President and Director. He then served as the director of the corporate and investment banking division in Hong Kong.
This appointment is a strategic move that focuses on strengthening the corporate banking presence in the South Asia region. With Thakker’s experience in the banking sector and in the region, he is expected to contribute to the growth of the company and engage with clients across the markets.
In this new role, Thalker will report to Jason Rekate and John Chirico, the Global Co-Heads of Corporate Banking at Citi, and Amol Gupte, Head of the Asia South Cluster.
