Equirus Group has appointed Sandeep Walunj as Chief Growth Officer. This appointment comes at a critical phase as the diversified financial services firm accelerates expansion across investment banking, capital markets, wealth and asset management, and allied financial services.
With over three decades of professional experience spanning business transformation, marketing, brand strategy, digital growth, and market expansion across India, the Middle East, and North Africa. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, he has built a distinguished career across prominent financial services, consumer, and retail brands, blending strategic vision with a strong operational focus.
His career includes senior leadership roles such as Executive Director and Group Chief Marketing Officer at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd. He has also served as Chief Marketing Officer at Nippon India Mutual Fund. His earlier professional experience spans strategic roles at Magma Fincorp Private Limted, Future Group India, PepsiCo India, The HEINEKEN Company, Reckitt, and Wipro Consumer Care, reflecting cross-sector expertise in brand and business development.
Walunj has also served as a member of the Financial Literacy Committee of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) in India, where he spearheaded the widely recognised Mutual Funds Sahi Hai campaign, and contributed to the broader marketing community as a member of the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board of the CMO Council (USA) and the BFSI Committee of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (West Region).
In his new role, he will be responsible for shaping and driving the Group’s growth agenda. His appointment underscores strategic growth in leadership, organisational alignment, and enhanced market differentiation.
