Zydus Group Lifesciences is moving forward with its planned acquisition of a controlling 85.6% stake in French orthopaedic technology firm Amplitude Surgical SA for approx. ₹2,430 crore (€256.8 million). As part of the transaction, the company has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary in France — Zydus MedTech (France) SAS. According to a regulatory filing, the acquisition marks a key milestone in Zydus’ broader strategy to expand its international footprint and diversify into the global medical technology space.

Amplitude Surgical is a leading player in orthopaedic solutions, specialising in lower limb reconstructive surgery. With a strong presence across Europe, the company distributes its products in over 30 countries.

Sharvil Patel, Managing Director of Zydus Lifesciences, noted that the acquisition represents a strategic entry into the fast-growing orthopaedic devices market and aligns with the company’s vision of building a diversified healthcare portfolio.

Commenting on the development, Olivier JALLABERT, CEO and founder of Amplitude Surgical, said, “The Amplitude Surgical team and I are delighted to join Zydus.”

Once completed, the transaction will enable Zydus to leverage Amplitude’s innovation capabilities and established distribution network. It also underscores Zydus’ intent to move beyond its core pharmaceutical business and strengthen its presence in high-growth verticals such as medtech and orthopaedics.

The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
