Tesla opened their first official showroom in India’s financial capital, Mumbai, on 15th July 2025. This marks a moment in the nation’s electric vehicle journey. The showroom is located in Mumbai’s upscale location, Bandra Kurla Complex, offering a grand showcase to the brand, spotlighting the Model Y in both rear-wheel drive and long-range variants.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the showroom, hailing Mumbai and the state as the ideal backdrop for Tesla’s debut. He emphasised the region’s EV policies and strong infrastructure support. The CM also praised Tesla’s entry as a step towards the city’s commitment to sustainability.

Although the price of the EV giant is steep due to high import duties, starting around ₹60 lakh, which is double the US rate before tax incentives.

However, the expansion is already underway, with the second Experience Center planned for Delhi’s Aerocity, along with plans to expand in the NCR and Bengaluru region soon.

Tesla’s entry in India comes at a crucial time when the automotive market is exploring sustainable options such as electric vehicles (EVs), and the audience is also responding positively to these new initiatives. By launching imported vehicles, especially those positioned as luxury items, Tesla aims to build a brand rather than simply increase sales volume.
